Dog grooming unfortunately is not at the top some dog owner’s list, but it’s an important
way to prevent some common health problems. A dog’s ears for example are the perfect
setting to grow bacteria and yeast, which leads to more serious infections. But, taking time
to learn how to clean your dog’s ears and check them regularly will keep him from
anything more serious.

Dog grooming should be done regularly and once a week their ears should be checked for
signs of infection, ear mites or dirt and debris. The inside of a dog’s ear should be a
healthy flesh or pink color and free of wax buildup or dirty discharge. Caution, before

•        Swelling in or around the ear canal
•        Dirty looking discharge
•        Strong, foul odor
•        Sensitivity when touching the ears
•        Shaking the head violently or scratching at the ears

symptoms. Your dog needs treatment and you should immediately contact your
veterinarian for an appointment. A dog that has prolonged or an untreated ear infection
may suffer permanent damage and hearing loss.

wash or you can make your own. It’s best when dog grooming to be out doors or in the
bathroom because there might be a mess.

Squirt a good amount of cleaner in each ear then massage the ears for a minimal of thirty
seconds. You might want to take a step back because your dog will most definitely shake

You should only clean your dog’s ears once a month as long as the look healthy. Longer
