Dogs and cats teeth cleaning can mean the end of your pet’s bad
breath but most importantly, dental care and brushing dog's teeth
regularly can improve the overall health of your dog. One of the most
common diseases in cats and dogs is dental disease, more
specifically, periodontal disease.

However with regular dogs and cats teeth cleaning and check ups
with your veterinary, dental disease can be prevented. We can
reduce and even prevent dental disease by feeding a crunchy diet,
appropriate chew treats and toys and brushing dog’s teeth daily.

The following will help guide you through the steps to dogs and cats
teeth cleaning: After brushing dog's teeth a few times this routine
should be simple and quick. To promote healthy teeth and gums try to
do your dogs and cats teeth cleaning every day or at the least, once a
week.

1.        Before you begin have your veterinarian check your pet’s
teeth. Dogs and cats teeth cleaning can be very painful if they have
gum disease or damaged teeth and you could get bitten.

2.        Before brushing dog's teeth practice by opening your pet’s
mouth gently so that they get used to it. Make sure you reward him
with a treat each time you do this.

3.        Purchase at a pet store or from your vet a pet dental kit that
includes a special toothpaste and a toothbrush. Make sure you read
the directions and follow the kit's instructions before brushing dog’s
teeth.

4.        Make sure that you and your cat or dog is in a comfortable
position while brushing their teeth.

5.        It is always best to use minimal restraint while brushing your
pet’s teeth, especially for cats.  You may want to wrap your cat in a
towel to keep him from trying to escape scratching you.

6.        Always brush your cat's or dog's teeth using a circular motion
focusing longer on the area between the teeth and the gum.

7.        Make sure you reward your pet b giving them a special treat
after each tooth brushing procedure.

If your pet refuses to let you put a tooth brush in their mouth, there
are other alternatives to dogs and cats teeth cleaning such as a finger
toothbrush. Call your veterinary for suggestions.
